Our Proposal Story... April 24, 2010
You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." - Dr. Seuss
(Kevin) We went on a wine tour because we knew we wanted to get married and have a reception at a winery. Little did Monica know that I was planning to propose. I picked up her ring a few days earlier and she had no idea that I had it. I originally picked out her ring while she got her haircut when I had to kill an hour at the mall I spent the whole time looking at rings. I then spent all the extra money that I could on it and I had it almost paid off in 6 weeks. When I picked up the ring I knew that she would like it. Later that day I called her dad and asked for his permission to ask Monica to marry me. I was a little nervous about the call, but knew it was something that I wanted to do. We talked for almost 40 minutes, and he gave me his blessing. I told him how I planned to propose as well as 2 of her best friends. All of them said it sounded like a perfect place to do it, because Monica loves wine.
The whole time we were on our wine tour all I could think of was getting to Miles. With every winery that we passed I knew that time was getting near. Driving down the long road I was nervous and trying to think of ways I could get the ring out without Monica noticing. Before we parked I thought of grabbing a bag of Bugles, and possibly digging a bottle of water or Capri Sun out of our little cooler to distract her.
(Monica) So... we pulled into Miles Winery (one of our favorites) and decided to just grab a glass of wine and relax out by the lake for a little while before continuing our mission. Kevin took about 15 minutes to get out of the car and kept saying he was looking for Bugles (chips things). I was getting really impatient and whining "Come on... geez!" He finally got himself together and we got our wine.
(Kevin) I was trying to sneak the ring out from my hiding spot without her catching me.
(Monica) We sat down by the lake and talked about how beautiful the view was where the grass comes to a cliff right over the water. Kevin grabbed me by the hand and we walked to the edge and kind of just stared out at the lake. He asked me "Do you know how much I love you?" and I said "How much?" (honestly expecting a response such as "To the moon" or "Times a million" or something silly like that). When I turned to look at him, he wasn't there... or at least at eye level... I looked down and there he was, on one knee, holding a ring. He said "This much. Monica Ann Siegfried, will you marry me?" I was so shocked... all I could manage was "Oh my God... are you kidding me... is this really happening...?" (THEN... I realized I was thinking out loud) I said "YES!!! Of course I will marry you."
(Kevin) Then she began to cry because she was so happy.
(Monica) So... I might have teared up a LITTLE bit... but that's beside the point.
(Kevin) She was balling in the car.
(Monica) Details... details...
And the rest... is history in the making...
